So, I should've written this like a week ago already, but well, I just decided this morning that I would make a blog about my second visit here in Australia, so I will try to summarize my first week (and a half) in this post.
As I said, the purpose of this blog is pretty much to tell people about the things that I will do on my 8 week visit here in Australia. For you who might not know, I have my amazing and beautiful girlfriend living here in Sydney, and I'm visiting her for the second time now!
I can't really decide where I should begin, but I think the long journey would be a good thing.
So, on the 15 of June, a quite warm summer evening in Sweden, I hopped on a train to Copenhagen. After what seemed to be a quite short train journey (which actually lasted for three hours) I arrived at the airport of Copenhagen, Kastrup. I arrived at about 1 in the early morning (June 16). Now, the most annoying part of my trip begun, about six hours of waiting before I could board the plane that would take me to the heart of the United Kingdom, London.
The waiting wouldn't be so bad if the Danes actually had somewhere comfortable to sit, but no, of course not, all they had: some benches, which were all occupied by other tired people (some of them were going to Los Angeles among other things!) This meant that I had to sit on the floor, which wasn't too bad, just not that nice to sit on a floor for 5-6 hours :)
After the wait, I finally got through the security check (always feel like a criminal!) and get through to the tax-free shopping! Although it wasn't that exciting, I only got some Swedish chocolate for the people in Australia. I did, however, saw some perfumes (Burberry, Lacoste, etc.) that were 40% off, but, I'm sorry sis, not this time ;)
After that, at about 8am, I really needed some proper breakfast. I went to some nice-looking restaurant place (I think it was called Copenhagen, heh) and I had the most amazing and expensive little piece of bread and ham + cheese I've ever had, think I payed about 120 DKK, and on top of that, they had a tip-system when you were paying with a credit card, so the waitress asked me if I wanted to tip or not, and how could you possibly say no? So that was another 20 DKK :P
After my breakfast I finally went to my gate and after a short wait I could board the plane, which was, apparently operated by SAS, even though it said BMI on my ticket :)
I got on the plane, which was small and warm, as usual (when it comes to SAS), but the 2 hour journey was quite okay. When we were approaching London, the captain went "Oh, and as always, it's raining in London!" and that was funny =)
So, I arrived in London, at about 9am local time, and after collecting my bag and checking in to the Qantas flight to Singapore/Sydney, I pretty much went straight to have some more "breakfast" (lunch). Went to an English pub, and they happened to have the most epic "breakfast burger" ever, so of course I had to have that. A big tasty burger with bacon and egg, om nom! And also, I've never seen so many people drinking so much beer/drinks at 9am before!
After my second breakfast, I went around to have a look in the tax-free stores but most of them were closed still, so I just killed the two hours doing pretty much nothing, and then once again, I got to the gate and I finally boarded the plane that would take me all the way to Sydney!
Now, for people that haven't travelled very far before, I can't really explain what it is like, but I can tell you this, you look at the on-board flight entertainment system's flight tracker, and you see "12 hours to destination" (to Singapore by the way, which means, a little more than halfway to Sydney) and you think, "well, it's not THAT bad", but then, after an eternity of semi-sleeping and watching some random episode of the Big Bang Theory, you once again look at the timer, and it says, "11 hours and 10 minutes to destination", well, that's when you realise that you're pretty much fucked :)
Other than the journey being incredibly long, everything went fine, some turbulence but nothing too bad, and the food was good. Had some beer and stuff too, but mostly coke, because I don't think getting drunk would be such a good idea really. Had some nice blokes from London and Australia sitting close to me, didn't really say much to them, but everyone, including myself, seemed to be tired most of the time.
Arrived in Singapore at about 7 in the morning on the 17 of June, a Friday, and as the last time I went to Sydney, it was just pretty much a matter of getting of the plane and get on again. After that a second journey of about 8-9 hours awaited, and just like the last time, it felt HEAPS shorter than the London - Singapore bit. I got plenty of sleep, some food, although I slept through the "dinner" (which was, according to my time, at about 10 in the morning). The landing was the suckiest landing ever. Heaps of turbulence and I was already feeling quite ill, so at one point I thought that I would have to throw up, but I made it just fine.
Now, safely on the ground, it took ages for people to leave the plane, it took ages with the passport control, it took ages with the baggage claim, and finally, it took ages with the customs, but at last I was back in what I would like to call my second home, and in the arms of my amazing girlfriend :) Got picked up by her and her mum, and it was just so nice to be back on the ground, with people that I know, and a car I'm used to, and later on, a house that I've been in before, and the coolest dog on the whole planet (except my own Kasper of course :P) Had some really really yummy pasta for dinner that night (the gf's mum always make amazing food!) and then I pretty much went straight to bed.
Now, that was a bit about the trip here, and from now on in this post I won't be as detailed as I've been so far. I have been here about a week now, and I've already experienced some amazing things:
Week 1:
Monday: Went with the girlfriend to her uni, just to sit around in a quite chilly winter afternoon, with ladybugs as company, while she was writing an exam. Later in the evening, I got to experience my first ever rugby game live.
Manly Sea Eagles versus the team that I've come to like, Parramatta Eels. The whole experience was quite weird to begin with, it was so strange to not have a commentator yelling out the things that happened, and the Manly crowd SUCKED SO BADLY, that it was all quiet and the only thing you could really hear was the crunching tackles on the field. Sadly, Parramatta lost in the last minutes of the game, even though they put on a great performance for most of the game. Oh and, the Manly cheerleaders were really lame and no one really cheered for them, even if the speaker told us to!
Wednesday: Finally! The long awaited revisit to the Taronga Zoo! The most amazing zoo in the whole world with the coolest animals and it was even better than the first time I was there because of the finishing renovating the place. Saw some new animals, and some favourites that I wanted to see again. Took heaps of pictures which you can find on my facebook. We had a great time, and a very tasty lunch (chicken wrap and way too much chips!) When we were waiting at the bus stop later in the evening some weird guy started talking to us about how expensive it is to enter the zoo, and how boring most of the animals are, etc,. He even showed us a picture of a tiger he had taken with his crappy mobile phone :P
Sunday: The craziest day so far, well, morning/afternoon at least. Went with the gf to her band practice (band called Born of Chaos if anyone's interested, they play some cool metal, you guys should give them a listen, have a look on Facebook!) She had warned me before we went there that the guys can be quite crazy, but, as I expected, it wasn't that bad :P Boys will be boys! Anyway, it was fun to watch them play, especially since *some* people seemed quite drunk still! I really enjoyed it dudes, and I hope that I get to see you again before I return to my cold country in the north!
Other than what I've mentioned above, nothing much have happened so far, just general chillaxing really, watching Friends, playing Wii, watching Masterchef, and things like that, it's great really :)
Oh and also, there lives a quite big spider in a tree outside that I'm gonna try to get a good pic of sometime soon and show you guys, it's creepy!
And, I'm sorry about the long first post, I hope that whoever that decide to read this, finished reading, if you did, yay for you! I will try to keep my posts shorter in the future, and I will try to get a post online every other day or so at least, so keep checking in for updates of my time here in the land down under :) And I will try to get pics online asap, the internet is being a bit wonky at the moment!
Bye for now!
